Make India a better place to live for a WOMEN!

Make India a better place to live for a WOMEN!

It is said that women is a goddess and this is how u treat a women..its is so true "a girl is neither safe in the womb neither outside the womb!"

Never thought we would all be so ashamed of being called an Indian..yes I am talking about the Delhi Girl's GangRape..It is not only due to ‘her’ death that we should be hanging our heads in shame. The shame is also that Delhi is being called the ‘RAPE CAPITAL OF INDIA’. After winning this infamous title a decade ago, the state and the central government did nothing to erase this..  A matter of ultimate shame for which we should hang our heads!

The 23-year-old paramedical student had no idea that joyful moments of her life would soon take a dangerous curve on that fateful night of December 16.It’s the dream of every person on this earth to earn name and fame, but definitely not the way ‘she’ received it.

The girl’s entire life fell apart when ‘she’ was gang-raped and brutally assaulted by six men, including a minor, in a moving bus in South Delhi and her male friend was badly bashed when he tried to protect her.

A heinous act like rape is nothing new, not only for India but for the entire world. If humans are capable of carrying out such a shameful act then the solution to prevent such acts also lies within the human mind. Harsh punishments like lifetime unemployment, capital punishment or castration may infuse fear in the mind of rapists, but ‘change from within’ is the only solution to stop the horrifying crime.

Lot of people, including politicians and several members of Khaps have in the past put the blame on the women for getting raped. Statements like "Did you see the clothes she was wearing?" or "She was moving on her own after midnight inviting for rape" are often found to be made. A grosser mentality could never have been found. Instead of finding ways to secure women or demeaning the cruelty of rotten minds, people start to point their fingers at the victims.

On the one side, our ministers, including the Prime Minister, are offering condolences (for the rape victim) and advising people to remain calm; and yet, at the same time, no quick action is being taken on passing any law for the protection of women.

Why can’t a man have a heart and a mind which can understand the agony of a woman? After all he too has a wife, daughter, sister or a girlfriend? And one thing is a given - every man has a mother – who is also a woman, and because of whom the man exists in this world.

These beasts have to be told that women are much more than objects of lust.. Educational institutions can also go a long way in building the minds of children, as this is the right time to teach kids about giving respect to all. Schools can play a big role in carving a child into a good human being as kids learn the most (good or bad) here. Every educational institution teaches a child to respect, regard and keep faith in teachers, parents and elders. So if a child, right from the beginning, learns to differentiate between rights and wrongs, only then the root cause of a crime can be eradicated.

But mere education is not enough to move the mountain and bring forth a change; upbringing of a child and especially that of a boy, is very important. In our society, as soon as a male child is born, the entire family celebrates it as a moment of pride and hold their heads high for the rest of their lives. On the other hand, in a family where a girl is born, the entire family, especially the mother, bows a little down while thinking about the entire journey of the upbringing of that little girl.

Why can’t the upbringing of a child, either a boy or a girl, be the same? If a girl is being taught to respect others, be responsible, have patience, understand the value of life, sacrifice, should be open to criticism and many more, then why can’t the same be taught to a boy as well?

It’s the need of the hour that from the very beginning a child (male or female), must be taught to respect all and also a sense of equality between man and woman should be instilled in him.

Everyday newspapers, TV channels are full of news of rape and molestation of 3 year, 2 year, 42 year and even 70-year-old females. But the minds and hearts of the culprits never change. Even the society keeps on torturing the survivors of the heinous crime by repeatedly cautioning the victim and letting the accused go after meting out only little punishment to them.

Also it is high time that the Indian government sets up some strong rules to protect the women of the country.

The pain of losing a near and dear one is unbearable and can’t be described in words. The only means to lessen the pain is by getting justice at the earliest.

Let`s pray to God to give peace to the soul of the deceased girl (rape victim) and courage to her family to have patience at this crucial time. Let’s unite and make India a safer place for the times to come.

These rapes have been going on for a very long time,in the past there were many incidents of gangrape in delhi, mumbai, across the country, despite the rage and the protest of the delhi gangrape victim, still there are rape cases coming up from elsewhere in india, a minor is raped, a lady is molested, still the violence against women is going on,This really has to change, its we who has to stop this.. change your mind.. change your thinking only then world will be a better place to live..

The Race of time : Is it really necessary?

Ain’t all of us running after time??? Yes, but I think everyone’s approach/level of interest/level of involvement is different…
I wonder how people can keep cribbing about the ‘rat race’ and at the same time get so engrossed in it that they take their personal lives for granted! And what are they left with… not much at the personal front for sure… maybe something (or a lot) at the professional front. But I really wanna know… does it give them a real sense of accomplishment? Are they really able to enjoy or celebrate that professional success after they’ve screwed their personal lives for that?
Someone recently told me that once his boss held a meeting on a Saturday… and said that you guys continue working..I’ll be back in a couple of hours.. and she got back even before those couple of hours got over… and guess where she went… to her son’s first birthday party… honestly, ridiculous is the only word that comes to my mind!
I don’t say there’s any harm in being that career-oriented also. But you must have your preferences clear in your head. Why do you have to have a child or even get married for that matter, if you are so concerned about your professional success?
This is simple rediculous... Don't screw your personal life for your profession! you can atleast take out some time out of your profession for yourself.. Enjoy your life.. The time once spent wont come back to you.. :)

Navratri : Festival of lights, Colors and Music!

Navratri : Festival of lights, Colors and Music!

To Begin with, Navratri my personal Favourite Festival of all time is around.. I wait for the whole year for this festival..When I was in school, we always had ‘My Favourite Festival’ as an essay topic. Invariably, majority of my class would resort to writing ‘Diwali’ or ‘Holi’. Easy to describe, easy to write – in English, Hindi, Marathi. But I made it a point to write on ‘Navratri’. Because it was/is still my favourite festival. Not Diwali or Holi.  Navratri means 9 nights. Nav = nine and ratri = nights. Navratri is a festival of goddess Durga. It is filled with lots of lights, colorful outfits and music!!

There’s something about dancing for 9 nights. Diwali is for 3-4 days, Holi for 2 days. Diwali grants a vacation, it is an excuse to extort money in the name of “Diwali Bonus” – something the postman, maids indulge in. Holi is another excuse to get drunk on bhaang and also to molest.

We Gujarati's celebrate it like nothing less.. The whole 9 days are like party for us!

Earlier, the dancing used to go on till 1 am, at times till 3 am. But sadly now, it’s just till ten, on weekends till midnight. Navratri is characterised by "dandiya, garba, ghaati dance, Bollywood dance – inclusive of thumkas and jhatkas." My fave among the lot has to be garba - the clapping with a beat, twirling, concentration to get the steps right. But in the midst of all of this, due to uncoordinated efforts someone always gets hurt. My feet have been stamped upon and I have stamped upon others feet too. Though at times i have been stamped upon and hav badly hurt my foot, but this has never stopped me from playing garba.. there is something in those music that the whole of tiredness vanishes as soon as the music starts..

So garba has a few steps, often accessorised with claps, jumps. People from age 5yrs to 70yrs come and play garba..
There’s ‘popat’. It looks like its really tough but it isn’t. Took me a while to perform it with confidence and without biting my lower lip in concentration. But the funniest has to be something called ‘sanedo’.
Sanedo requires one to sit on hunches, beat the sticks on the ground and then jump up all of a sudden and start dancing!!! I almost died laughing when I did it for the first time. And you dance on a song which goes like “Sanedo sanedo lal lal sanedo"

And then there’s dandiya. A stick is all you need. The step is pretty senseless but it’s a refreshing change when garba becomes monotonous. Dandiya is sometimes used to beat up people. Invariably people get -

Hit on the finger

Hit on the knuckle
Or get poked in eye
I have used it once, while dancing to intentionally hit someone on the knuckles hard for my own reasons. It also used for mock sword fighting.

But this is dance. There’s more to Navratri. Prasad (offerings to God). I just realised Navratri for me is less about praying and more about having fun with my friends. It acts like a reunion of sorts. All those whom you have not met the whole year will meet you like long lost siblings in navratri..

Falguni Pathak is like the Trademark of navratri she sings the best! The crowd who come to play when she is singing is like a crowd came in to watch SRK or Amitabh Bachchan. The rates of the passes where she is performing goes up like the petrol prices..

There is a funny Quote on it : Aa Gaya woh mahina jab tu khaas hai, agar tere pass Falguni ka pass hai.. :D

With Navratri, the jazziest outfits come out of the closet. Chaniya Cholis, (heavily embroidered blouse with a skirt and a stole – for women) Kediyas (A blouse with a flare, dhoti, stole and a turban for men) , Churidhar Kurta (for women and men alike), Salwar Kameez (Kameez is the same as a kurta, salwar is similar to a harem pant, worn by women). Oxidised jewelery, sparkly dupattas – you name it!

And then there’s boy-girl dynamics. A lot of eye-candy, staring, eyes locked for brief periods of time. Who’s checking out who, who’s cute. Navratri’s all about that jazz. But it lasts for 9 days only. Very few have managed to sustain the staring, flirting and checking out. Because Navratri eye candy is different from regular eye candy.

Another activity that’s a lot of fun with friends is to search for manic dancing, bad dancers and horrible outfits. Manic dancing tops the list in providing the best entertainment. There’s a lot of uncoordinated, goofy moves which doesn’t go unnoticed by us, in spite of the enormity of the said moves. This is the most celebrated festival all over India..

How to Love a Woman..?

How To Love a Woman..?

Read a beautiful post on a blog… Don’t ask me how I reached that page… I truly don’t know.. I guess I was searching for something, saw something else….got reminded of something, then searched for something else..blah blah blah…and there I was at that page… OK, cutting the crap down..here’s the post -
“As a relationship develops, many activities develop into protocols. You go shopping, dine, and make calls automatically without much thoughts. Before your love becomes stale and goal-less, consider what it means to truly love a woman.
The next chance you get to spend time with a woman you love, be it only 5 minutes, look into her eyes. If you have been together for many years, she probably would not notice it at first. Look long enough and she would notice your gaze. She would ask why. But you do not have to answer. Put away your work, complains, interests, and just put unwavering attention on her. Capture her every wink, hair lines, and every contours on her face. Observe how she moves and talks. Listen to how she sound. Look until her images enter your consciousness. You can feel her in your skin, your flesh, and your pulse. You become at peace with her. Time stops, and the world becomes less important. At that instance, both you and she becomes one, and becomes one with the world. When this happen, it does not matter if there are things both of you can do, or things you can talk about. These are unimportant. Every touch, every step, and every moment becomes sufficient by itself. Even if on a phone, both of your remain silent, that is alright. Because you know you truly love this woman.”
Well… so why did I write it here…because as soon as I read it..it rang some bell somewhere… reminded me of a very very similar article I had written long back (ok not so long back)… I don’t remember it though :( but I know it was as similar to this post as it could get… I wish I still had it with me… Huh..I was such a fool not to keep my articles safely..In fact, I don’t have the most of them with me :(

Though i remember a song similar to this article..one of my favourite song by Bryan Adams.
"Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman"

To really love a woman, to understand herYou gotta know her deep insideHear every thought, see every dreamAn' give her wings when she wants to flyThen when you find yourself lyin' helpless in her armsYou know you really love a woman
When you love a womanYou tell her, that she's really wantedWhen you love a woman you tell her that she's the one'Cuz she needs somebodyTo tell her that it's gonna last foreverSo tell me have you ever reallyReally, really ever loved a woman?Yeah
To really love a woman, let her hold youTil' you know how she needs to be touchedYou've gotta breathe her, really taste herTil' you can feel her in your bloodAn' when you can see your unborn children in her eyesYou know you really love a woman
When you love a womanYou tell her that she's really wantedWhen you love a woman you tell her that she's the one'Cuz she needs somebodyTo tell her that you'll always be togetherSo tell me have you ever reallyReally, really ever loved a woman?
OhYou've got to give her some faith, hold her tightA little tenderness, you gotta treat her rightShe will be there for you, takin' good care of youYou really gotta love your woman, ya
And when you find yourself lyin' helpless in her armsYou know you really love a woman
When you love a womanYou tell her that she's really wantedWhen you love a woman you tell her that she's the one'Cuz she needs somebodyTo tell her that it's gonna last foreverSo tell me have you ever reallyReally, really ever loved a woman?Yeah
Just tell me have you ever reallyReally, really, ever loved a woman?OhJust tell me have you ever reallyReally, really, ever loved a woman?
